Mum is the heart of the family. She is proud of Youssef, and she is also completely sure that London does not have enough food. She calls at the worst possible moments: in the middle of the Tube, during a meeting, at 7 a.m. on a Saturday.
She is learning English too, a few words at a time, so she can talk to Sam and "that Ms Clarke".
